I have always wanted some sort of kitchen island and when I saw this piece at the Salvation Army I knew it had potential!! I had paint left over from my kitchen cabinets added a little un sanded grout and water and went to work! Then I hit Hobby Lobby for some new hardware and Ta Da here is my kitchen island makeover!!!

If only I had a pic of the hideous carpet that was on the stairs! Well, I did try to ignore it for many years and once the floors got done I had to somehow make them look better! I mean this was a vast improvement!! I started with paint.
